Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose

The Spa & Fitness Manager is responsible for the development, pre-opening setup, and ongoing management of all spa, salon, barber shop, and fitness operations. This includes establishing SOPs, recruiting and training staff, and ensuring service excellence across all wellness areas. The position requires a professional with strong pre-opening experience, wellness management expertise, and the ability to deliver a high-end guest experience while achieving business performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening Phase

  • Develop and execute the Spa & Fitness Department pre-opening plan and critical path, ensuring all deliverables are met within budget and timeline.
  • Define and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all areas: spa, salon, barber shop, swimming pool, and fitness.
  • Develop the service menu, pricing structure, and product range in collaboration with brand partners and suppliers.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers for spa products, retail items, and salon consumables.
  • Prepare and manage the pre-opening budget, including CAPEX, OS&E, and staffing requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard the spa, salon, and fitness team, ensuring adherence to brand and service standards.
  • Establish operational manuals covering hygiene, safety, and guest care.
  • Conduct training sessions on guest service, sales techniques, product knowledge, and grooming standards.
  • Develop marketing and pre-opening promotional strategies in collaboration with Sales & Marketing.
  • Perform operational readiness checks prior to soft opening.

Post-Opening / Operational Phase

  • Oversee daily operations of the spa, salon, barber shop, and fitness facilities to ensure exceptional service quality, hygiene, and profitability.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, preparing budgets, forecasts, and monthly reports.
  • Drive revenue generation through innovative marketing, membership programs, retail sales, and guest engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment are well maintained and in good working order in coordination with Engineering.
  • Maintain a strong focus on guest satisfaction, handling feedback and resolving complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Lead by example to maintain the highest standards of personal presentation, service delivery, and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
  • Manage inventory levels of spa products, consumables, and retail stock, ensuring cost control and minimal wastage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with product brands, fitness trainers, and external partners to enhance service offerings.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and training refreshers to uphold standards.
  • Collaborate with HR on staff welfare, motivation, and professional development programs.
  • Prepare promotional calendars, wellness events, and themed campaigns to attract both in-house and local guests.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality, Wellness, or Spa Management (or related field).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive spa or wellness management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven pre-opening experience in establishing and operating a spa with salon and fitness facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of spa operations, salon management, barber services, and fitness club management.
  • Familiarity with booking systems and POS software.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage P&L, budgets, and sales performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification or training in wellness therapies, beauty, or fitness is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety standards applicable to spa and salon operations.
  • Creative and customer-oriented, with a focus on service innovation and team motivation.
