Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose
The Information Technology Manager is responsible for the planning, setup, and management of all hotel technology systems during both pre-opening and operational phases. This includes the implementation and support of the hotel’s PMS, POS, accounting, communications, and security systems. The position requires a proactive and technically skilled individual with experience in Novacom Systems and Oracle Symphony POS, ensuring all systems are integrated, reliable, and compliant with brand standards before and after launch.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Phase
- Develop and execute the hotel’s IT pre-opening plan and critical path, ensuring all milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Collaborate with project, finance, and operations teams to design and implement IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, Wi-Fi, CCTV, access control, and communication systems.
- Coordinate installation and configuration of key systems, including Novacom (communications and guest services), Symphony POS (F&B), PMS, and back-office solutions such as Sun accounting, HR, payroll, and procurement systems.
- Ensure seamless integration between PMS, POS, accounting, inventory, door locks, telephony, and guest Wi-Fi.
- Liaise with vendors and brand representatives to meet hardware, software, and compliance requirements.
- Establish IT policies, cybersecurity protocols, and backup systems before hotel launch.
- Prepare and manage pre-opening IT budgets, including OS&E and CAPEX allocations.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT operations and support.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on system usage and cybersecurity awareness.
- Perform full system testing prior to opening to ensure readiness and performance reliability.
Post-Opening / Operational Phase
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring optimal system performance and minimal downtime.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network, server, and application issues promptly.
- Provide user support, technical assistance, and periodic training to hotel departments.
- Maintain system updates, ensuring data protection and compliance with privacy standards.
- Implement robust data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
- Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) effectively.
- Conduct routine IT audits and ensure infrastructure security and reliability.
- Support hotel management in technology upgrades and innovation projects.
- Monitor departmental costs and resource utilization for efficiency.
- Collaborate with corporate IT and management to align technology initiatives with business goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of IT management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role within the hospitality industry.
- Proven pre-opening experience implementing PMS, POS, and integrated hotel systems.
- Hands-on expertise with Novacom Systems (guest communication), Oracle Symphony POS, and PMS platforms (Opera, Protel, or similar).
- Proficiency in network and server administration (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN).
- Experience integrating CCTV, access control, and electronic locking systems.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery.
- Excellent vendor management, budgeting, and project coordination skills.
- Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving and communication abilities.
